Other people's actions shouldn't dictate our actions. We should know who we are and not let that be swayed or changed by others.

Some people want to bring us down to their level, but that's a trap and a betrayal of who we are.

If you're kind, be kind consistently. (That doesn't mean getting walked on or that we don't fight for what's right. It just means we don't have to be a cruel person while doing it.)

Don't get lured into buying a bunch of crap on Black Friday. The only things I buy during Black Friday sales (which have already started) are things I already needed or already regularly buy that happen to have gone on sale.

If you must participate in the Black Friday madness, only visit local, independently-owned stores. Visit a local coffee shop. Make it all about supporting your community. Even then, try to avoid impulse buys that you don't need or can't afford.

Capitalism wants nothing more than for most of us

Capitalism wants nothing more than for most of us to feel poor and desperate. That's so we'll work for low wages and not complain or have the time to think about rebellion and revolution.

The best way to combat this is to tax billionaires out of existence and elevate the working class. We need to elect only people dedicated to this pursuit.

One of the chapters of my book is called "Fill Your Life with Beauty and Comfort." Filling your space with beauty can be as simple as buying a beautiful pottery mug. I have two gorgeous handmade mugs by @dirtydogpottery who vends at my local #farmersmarket. They bring me so much joy, and I use them every day. Plus, I got to support a local artist when I bought them.
