The Stop The Violence Cookout is a local effort to create a safe, fun-filled space for families. This free event is our answer to the high cost of fairs and amusement parks while focusing on child-safety and well-being. It is funded through charitable donations to Streets of Paradise, a non-profit organization.

Inspired by the event’s mission, Sarasota Mayor Willie Shaw named a day in its honor in its first year. “Stop the Violence Day” is a day to promote community-based solutions in what he described as a way to build “a mutual sense of responsibility in our neighborhood, our communities and nation.”

Activities will include henna tattoos, face painting, kids games, bubble station, rock painting and dunk tank . Organizations and community groups will be on site to educate residents about services and resources available to them, free of charge. There will also be a live band, DJ’s, poets, dancers, singers, and FREE HUGS!
