One of my favorite parts about Rutland is having access to fresh organic food. While many would think that fresh produce is hard to come by this time of year, I would direct you to the Rutland Area Food Co-op located at 77 Wales Street.
They are open 7 days a week for your shopping pleasure. And while their website is horribly out of date, their store is cheery and pleasant. Check out the beautiful kale, broccoli and mushrooms I brought home today. Yum!
The Co-op also has a large bulk section where you can get delicious food stuffs without all the awful packaging. Bring your own containers so you avoid the waste of taking home yet another plastic bag that gets discarded.
They have locally raised meat products, a vast array of teas, and Kombucha on tap (yes, I really said that). My favorite are the specialty items like Vermont-made popcorn for popping. This stuff is seriously the best popcorn I have ever tasted in my entire life, and I’ve eaten a lot of popcorn.
I encourage you to go to the Rutland Area Food Co-op, an oasis of fresh deliciousness during these cold winter days.
