Getting groceries without a car
One of the questions I get asked most frequently when I tell folks I don’t own a car is, “How do you go grocery shopping?” When I answer, “On my bike,” they generally look at me quite skeptically.
I don’t bother to tell them that I twice carried a watermelon home on my bike from the farmers market – once in the front basket and once in a pannier. Or that my old panniers could hold one full-sized grocery bag each.
Above is a photo of the $85 worth of groceries I just carried home in the one, big bag on the front of my folding bike.
