Another day in my green paradise

blog-update-squareI know you hate it when I go for too long without making a blog entry, but I’ve been busy living!  That’s right – I’ve been busy growing my garden, hanging my clothes to dry, eating vegetables and riding my electric bicycle.  It’s a tough job living in my green paradise – oh wait, no it’s not!  It’s super easy and rewarding!

My garden:  Lettuce is ready to be picked!  Broccoli plants are really big and set to have edible broccoli on them soon.  Pepper plant is growing several peppers.  I don’t think I’ve planted a garden this later before, and stuff is growing much slower due to the cold.  I could’ve safely added some cucumbers to the mix and perhaps potatoes – I will note that for next year.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that the cold doesn’t hurt my vegetable garden or my outdoor plants and flowers.

There is nothing (and I repeat NOTHING) better than clothes and especially sheets and towels that are dried on the line.  They smell so fresh afterward, and it saves a ton of money over using the dryer.  It’s a no-brainer!

My electric bill for November:  $35.  Yup, that’s right.  And I was home the whole month AND had company for 2 of the 4 weeks.  My average bill for the last year must be like $50 or something ridiculous like that.

I had a snag with my electric bike last month.  I was riding downtown to see the new Harry Potter movie with my girl, Michelle, when I ran over a screw and got a flat tire.  I was soooo peeved.  I called my super knowledgeable electrical engineer buddy, Pete, who came to take a look.  Yup, it was flat.  So, he came back with a truck, and we loaded it in.  Try doing that with a 300 pound scooter!

I had to order a new tire and tube from the company that sells the electric bike as the tire size is irregular.  However, in the meantime, I called my friendly, local bike shop, and they were able to order a tube, and a thorn-resistant one at that.  On the day I received the tire in the mail, I took the bus downtown and walked to the bike shop.  They had the thorn-resistant tube, so I took the tire and tube over to Pete who expertly changed them for me.

It was a sad week without my transportation, but I am back in the saddle and loving it again!

If you are interested in purchasing an electric bicycle, please let me know as I am now an official dealer!  Stay tuned for the fabulous website I am building!
